Southbound.
Anyway after visiting Southbound it very quickly became apparent they know do know their stuff.
Dave Nunn guided me through many options and I decided to get the whole car trimmed in black leather.
With a smattering of tartan.

I supplied Southbound with the tartan fabric.
After talking to Dave he volunteered that normally a couple of metres of cloth would suffice to trim front centres & rear seats but in this instance 3 metres might be wise.
That was to ensure we had enough cloth to match the pattern from front to rear and to allow the pattern to be centred on each seat.
Southbound would take care to match both sides of the car and to match the fronts to the rears.

Now here's that same fabric in the yelow colourway.
These pictures show what can be achieved.
This guy has trimmed his 914 and it looks fabulous.
Start thinking this but in green......

Southbound set about the sports seats first.
They were completely stripped and the frames repainted.
The webbing on all the bases and backs was replaced with new.

Nicely restored base.

The foams were inspected and most were in excellent order, there was just one that was deemed a little tired.
The original foams are evidently the correct shape and density.
The single foam deemed too worn (in one of the bases) was replaced with an excellent original they had in stock.

The foams were tidied up with fresh hessian and cheesecloth.

Southbound also fixed a broken seat tipping cable.

Overall it was a very thorough restoration.
Even the side hinges were re-furbished in the correct paint finish.
They take particular care to replicate the textured ‘splatter’ type finish and I have to say, it looks great.

The rear seat pad foams were a bit past it so those were replaced with modern repros.

I visited Southbound whilst they were undertaking the trimming and they were most helpful in guiding me on the stitching.
There was some debate over the correct spacing on the stitches because this was essentially a 914 fabric and there was no real precedent for its implementation in a 911.
