Yes, whilst it's an IB car, apart from the bumpers, pretty much everything is very familiar to a '73 owner. It also has the early dash top (with no centre vent).

That a great little snippet of information on the dash top. That one little fact it tells you all about Porsche and it's philosophy in that era with the model changeovers. Thanks for posting all the little details......
Does it have the vents at the ends of the lower dash?

Post about your under tray requirements on Impact Bumpers, quite a few of the guys have just done a group buy on an alloy version.

The 74 Carrera 2.7 uses a steel crossmember like the earlier cars, hence has a different undertray to the later alloy crossmembered IB cars

Yep, he's correct, my car has the steel crossmember.

It took a while to trawl through all the parts but the vendor claimed it was all there and remarkably, it seems he was true to his word.
One of the last parts to be revealed was right at the bottom of the crate.
I was delighted to discover the MFI pump....

Back in 1973 a big problem was looming for Porsche’s engineers.
The oil crisis of late 1973 had changed perceptions of fuel usage and increasing awareness of the environment led to stringent restrictions on emissions and petrol consumption.
The party was nearly over but Porsche gave us the 74/75 Carreras as a magnificent swan song.
The oil crisis was ushered in at Stuttgart to a crescendo of revs, throttles wide open and the petrol pumping with a cavalier disregard for fuel economy never to be seen again.

The wonderful MFI engines we love so much had never been fuel efficient. Nor low on un-burnt hydrocarbons.
They were fire breathing monsters spitting fumes in their wake. The mechanical fuel injection produced by Bosch had been developed by the race teams to provide ample fuel flow and smooth & quick throttle responses. Remarkably quick throttle response was what you got. Floor it in an MFI engine and OPEC cheers.

Sadly the MFI engine was becoming too inefficient and in an effort to help reduce exhaust emissions Porsche moved to the K-Jetronic/CIS system (Continuous Injection System) and – to all intents and purposes – the MFI cars slipped off the price list in 1976.
Smog equipment would have strangled the 911/83 engines so those 210bhp cars were never exported to the US markets.

And of course the MFI pump I needed was an 019.
Sure enough, a quick clean of the tag revealed it to be the real deal.
Fantastic.

And the pump date June 73 which probably makes it the original..........

So apart from the heater controls, sounds like mine...seem to also recall the 73/74 cars had smooth vinyl covering the door bins, as opposed to a carpet type finish as mine does..would that be right...?
