Wanted. Back and front brakes

Post by Nigel »

Hi All.

Does anybody have 2 back and 2 front brake calliper assemblies for a 1966 912 they want to sell to me.

Took my car into a local garage for a pre MOT to be told that both rear brake callipers were completely locked on as was one of the fronts.

They can be restored but I would rather replace all 4 so as to avoid any further problems.

Where could I contact to buy these items, the local garage is not a specialist and is struggling to source them.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers

Hi nigel I would think twice about buying used calipers that you dont know the history of to fit without rebuilding, with potentially 40 years of wear on the seals. The rebuild process is not that involved as long as they can free up the pistons its just a case of cleaning them up and re-sealing which you should do to any used calipers you buy as matter of cause.

I have a set of 1972 911 front M front calipers with pistons removed ready for re-seal and rebuild if yours cannot be serviced, not sure if there different to the earlier SWB 912's though.

Send them to Classicar Automotive for refurbishment - I sent the front calipers + pad-retaining pins, springs, etc from my '69 912 to them & a week later these came back:

Very nicely done, what did it set you back for the pair to be done?
