Post by greg356 »

I would contact some of the Speedster replica manufacturers - their repro tachos should be just what you need.

As far as I remember, the only 356 to use an electric tacho was the 356 B/C Carrera & those gauges go for a lot of money these days.

An early 912 tacho (with green figures & chrome bezel) would be similar to your other 356 instruments but they're larger in diameter & would mean that you had to make the hole in your dash bigger to get it to fit.

I got a large 912 one, took the guts out of it and put in in the hollow shell of the old cable 356.........I scanned in the artwork off the old guage and shrunk it to fit the 356 size. the back of the guage looks a little messy but its all there now, if it works

Again thanks for the ideas. First stab at a repro hit nearly £400 ouch. Guess I will have to keep looking, unless someone else as some ideas?

We have Carrera ones.
12volt electronic.
Red line at 6000
Finish at 8000
£275 + VAT but I do need an exchange unit or add another £50

I would also like to say we have them in stock as well but I sold the last one today, so it would take a couple of weeks to get one.

All the best
