Wheels and tires…..again !

I have a standard 2l 1969 911t on the original 14in Fuchs, street driving only.

Having recently changed to wider rims and bigger tires on my Alfa GT junior I would like to do the same.

Minilites 15x6 23mm offset I think the wheels of choice….decided against 16in.
Tires thinking 205/55/16 front and rear.

Would consider 195s too.

Just canvassing opinions on those who have been through the same.
Given the steering is feather light I’m happy to add some resistance via wider rubber.

Personally I wouldn't go any bigger than 195/65 x 15.

Incidentally the offset for an original 6x15in Fuchs wheel is 36mm so, if fitting wheels with a 23mm offset, be aware that you might get clearance problems depending on make & size of tyre fitted.

Many thanks, the first response is exactly why I asked the question.
A) I thought I had read the 15in Fuchs on f bodies cars were 23.3mm.

B) had again read for the most part 205 tires should not be an issue.

I Aalso like the look of your car Andy, I have been questioning if 195 or 205 would give me the stands I’m after.

For years I had 205 x 50 x 15 on 7” wide rims.
Clearance on both front wings ok, rears were a very very close fit, Ruhr burnt the paint locally.
Steering was quite heavy…

7x15in Fuchs have an offset of 23.3mm (as do 7x16in & 944Turbo 8x16in rears)

B) had again read for the most part 205 tires should not be an issue.

Cars vary from one to another - plus depends whether ride height is std or lowered, whether the rear shocks are 100% effective, make/model of tyre (same size in different brands can be markedly different width-wise), etc as to whether you'd have clearance problems at the rear.

23 offset is on 7in…..got it.

Car has new shocks, and is set up low so perhaps 195 s to be safe.

Looking at the minilite website they don’t do 36mm offset in 6in

They have
6x15 ET0 to +28mm
7x15 ET-6 to +20mm

Best option ET+28 with 195/65/15 tires ?

Back in 1969, Car and Driver did a test on three new 911 cars - 911T targa, 911E and 911S.

Although the article didn't mention wheel sizes but I could see from the pictures that the 911T targa was the only one fitted with 14in wheels.

I am running 195/65/15 on 7'' wheels and I have a problem- see my earlier post. Can be made to work, but only at slightly higher than stock ride height and almost 3 deg camber.

Yes, as I said before very tight.
Some bodies are not the same as others, mine has new Porsche rear wings, fitted by me in 1989.
To get the 7" rims under the rears i needed to jack the wings out as far as I dared and rolled (hammered) the return lip almost flat to the inside of the wing.

205 x 50 just went under, the tyres were TOYO initially then Kumho, both had very modern vertical side walls and that did for the paint.

20mm lower than standard, 2 deg negative camber.

My 1970 car running at standard height is perfectly happy with 205s on the rear over 15x6 fuchs.

On the front, the 205s rub on the body below the fuel tank at full lock. I'm by no means an expert but having slid two or three 911s round corners, I'd recommend the widest rubber possible on the back in particular.
