In the depths of Covid I bought a new daily and retired my RR Sport to occasional duties which included the odd towing outing but basically it became semi-retired.
I did contact WBAC and Motorway at the time and received a best offer of £7k which I turned down. The Sport became fully retired and has sat for a couple of years until today when I decided it was time to fire her up, which she did, with a jump start. Meantime of course the MOT has expired (on SORN), the break discs are rusty, the suspension is sluggish but (on private land) she ran fine, steered and stopped just fine. All the electrics work and it’s in not too bad a nick body wise and the leather interior is lovely.
I have owned it from about 12 months old and 15k miles and ran it to 52k miles when the crank snapped. Now, I’m a pretty slow careful driver so I was a bit miffed at that failure especially when I hardly ever exceed the speed limit, have never had it in sport mode and was told only a new engine would apply. So at 52k miles it got a ‘new’ reconditioned RR engine. The speedo now reads about 112k miles and this engine has been treated to the same careful driving and servicing as the first. It’s never given any problems.
The Sport is black over black and is an HSE ‘luxury’ 3 litre diesel model. It’s on a 61 plate but is the facelift 2012 model first registered Jan 2012.
It will need trailered away without an MOT and I am in Scotland but someone with a bit of skill could put this back on the road with brakes and suspension work (both these warning lights are now on) might want to take up the challenge if it were cheap enough. I’m really not wanting to grapple with it as I am recently retired and have two Porsche projects to get up and running which will take time. So, I’m thinking £1k to take it away. You could probably break it for more but that’s up to you. Pm me if interested.
Thanks for reading.
Regards
Mike
