Under cover Resto
Re: Under cover Resto
The oil sump cover, purchased from Ollie, still available from him i believe, is deeper than the original as it has fins. So I had to add some depth to the top of my engine trolley. And my trolley jack doesn't quite reach!

Absolutely, James. The small one was donated to me by my father, so its my first trolley jack purchase ever! I must be a grown up now.......

Re: Under cover Resto
I got some of those nice looking copper coloured exhaust nuts, but in the flywheel side, the exhaust turns sharply and touches the nut. This i believe is because my exhaust may have been a prototype for Richard Kings Sebring exhausts.
So I turned 2 down so they would fit.

Re: Under cover Resto
I have been trying to get this engine back in the car, but what used to take me half an hour seems to take forever these days. I guess it's because I'm addressing all the little details this time round, like cutting a slot in the exhaust over tube, to prevent any blow by.

Re: Under cover Resto
I jacked the engine up into position, ready to push onto the mounting bolts and realised i had forgot the clutch assembly....doh!
At least I didn't completely forget it.

Re: Under cover Resto
I put a rubber grommet in the hole for the hard fuel line pipe and added an extra hole next to it to run my electrical feed for the rev counter.

Re: Under cover Resto
The engine went in, nice and easily with the new jack, put fuel line on, connected the electrics, spun on the full flow filter, and filled up with oil and fuel.
So the next things to do are get fuel down the line, oil pressure up, and fire in the hole!
Let's hope.
Thanks
Karl

Looking good!
Don’t forget the main earth strap. It can cause a lot of consternation!
Don’t ask me how I know!
