Hello All
can you help. I am restoring a LWB 912 . The car came with a fibreglass s style bumper which was only held on by 2 bolts at the side
I have sourced an original LWB steel bumper and cannot work out how it attaches . I presume it must attach to the battery box brackets some how?
I know on a SWB car there is an L shaped heavy steel bar that attaches to behind the bumper and then onto the side of the chassis. There is nothing similar on the PET diagrams for the LWB
Can someone point me in the right direction
Thanks

attaching LWB bumper
Yes there is a bracket that goes from the battery box and also up to the underside of the headlamp bowl.
I made these from some stainless as my originals were trash and didn’t line up with anything! You can see my new ones have a big slot and also clearance to the bumper so it could pulled up as it’s difficult to get a good fit. That’s also why I added the diagonal brace so it doesn’t flex under the load.
The battery boxes need the bracket to attach to as well if you don’t have those.
Hope this helps

Re: attaching LWB bumper
PS the factory brackets don’t look like this and are in two parts if I remember correctly

Re: attaching LWB bumper
On my 73T they are a simple one part U bracket.
I used mine to pull one Dansk wing to fit the leading edge of the door using the head lamp bowl bolt. Worked a treat.
Then I used spacers to get the bumper (f/glass) to fit the wing and the 'nose' on top of the horizontal leg of the bracket.
You need good slotted holes and good repair washers too.

Thanks Gary and 911H
I popped into Canford classics on my back from Cornwall and spoke to Chris who was very helpful and showed me the PET diagram on design 911
https://www.design911shop.com/diagrams/d/39914/
I need items 19 and 26 and the bolts to match
19 bolts between the front slam panel and a captive nut above fog light opening on the bumper, 26 is the part that attaches from battery box to side of bumper
the pics are very helpful in getting my head around it
Thanks again
onwards!

Re: attaching LWB bumper
1970 car. There's a right angle bracket for the bumper that attaches to this bracket on each battery box.
You can see it sat on top of the battery box here:
I think the hoop on the top corner here bolts to the headlamp bowl but that might be wrong.
This is the bracket on the battery box. It has two captive nuts.
