The Kremer 917 didn't break the bank at Monte Carlo selling for €2.35m, €2.65m with buyer's premium against estimate €3.5m - €5m

Bob Wollek later revealed he walked out on the Kremer brothers during the '81 Le Mans following 2 fatal incidents and having started the weekend with a bad omen about the race. With fewer than 24 race hours the steering on the car broke at its next outing at Brands

Wollek died 20 years later, hit by a van while cycling back to his accommodation from practice for the Sebring 12. After Sebring he was due to retire from racing and take a role as Porsche brand ambassador

Group B 924 GTS CS was a no sale at €160k, now asking €200k

Dan Herman SCCA Carrera Speedster 81079 bid to €750k against an estimate €850 - 950k, now asking €850k

Is that a Morgan behind it and if so, I wonder where it is and what it would sell for today?

1970 911T, Signal orange (Restoration thread)
1988 3.2 Carrera backdate, Black
2001 996 Turbo, Lapis blue (am I allowed to put that here?)
I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

I'd say that's probably Lew Spencer racing his Plus 4 - 'Baby Doll'.

He competed in the SCCA championship for several years & won the championship in the early '60's .

Later he went to work for Caroll Shelby during the era when the Cobra was being developed.

One of his Morgan racers came up for auction at Scottsdale ~ 10 years ago - sold for comparatively little (at least compared to a 356 Speedster) as far as I remember ...

It's been for sale for a while - seem to remember Paul Stephens listed it back at the beginning of the year.

Just goes to show how much money you can lose when you give specialists 'carte blanche' to build you a car with an 'open chequebook' approach !!

For reference, this is how the car looked in its previous guise:

The costs detailed are a real sobering tale. Just all feels excessive and more to me.
That aside, sure looks good!

Aaah. I knew I recognised that reg number. Prior to that pic it was a perfectly tidy yellow RS rep that belonged to Miles5 on here.

£150k spent on a bare rebuild isn’t outrageous by any stretch, the problem comes when you do it on an already good car you’ve bought for £125k.
964 C2 Targa. 205 1.6 GTi. Testarossa. Fisher Fury Fireblade. Motorhome. Motorbikes. Scooters. Pushbikes. Threadbare Saucony Peregrines. Dog. Human relations and friends. 97.5%-built house.
