I thought this looked nice at face value.

1970 911T, Signal orange (Restoration thread)
1988 3.2 Carrera backdate, Black
2001 996 Turbo, Lapis blue (am I allowed to put that here?)
I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

Wonder who did it in 1989, 35 years ago? Who were the specialists then, or maybe just done by an enthusiast.
Looks a nice car to me.

While we're on the subject, Aguttes Tour Auto sale featured ADAC championship 9114609108, the penultimate 3.0RS. Sold for €850k, €986k.

Sister Hahn / Dinkelacker 9114609089 sold for $440k at Quail back in 2016. Dinkelacker was served in the factory in period, so while working on your car keep it factory correct by getting bier-cooled

Bidding on 908/02.005 stalled at $4.1m, now asking $4.7m. $4.1m before a hefty premium seemed decent for the consignor given that 908/02.010 made $4.185m at Pebble Beach 2022. 908/02.005 sold for £2.185m at Bond St 2014 when the pound was still worth something ($3.475m)

Martini completed Porsche's first Le Mans podium lockout, Gérard Larrousse & Willi Kauhsen in the Hippie 917 (paintjob described by Jenks as vulger; he didn't always get it right) then Helmut Marko & Rudi Lins in 908/02.005

Is it legal to take bids off the wall under the reserve in the US? If so maybe it was that.

I assume it happens in these auctions. A good summary of why it happens:

see also shill bidding:

Deceives buyers as to the value, since they think there are other buyers out there at that money. So I should think you could pin a fraud charge on an auctioneer if you could prove it.

Happens all the time though, in the UK a lot also with both the big in person and online auctioneers no doubt. Almost impossible to prove and not sure it would be classed as illegal even if you could, someone is just bidding with knowledge of the reserve and I guess its not illegal to tell someone the reserve..... :(

It does happen all the time, but of course there is no reason for anyone to put in a higher bid if they think that the item isn’t worth it. It cuts both ways!

Bit like asking your mate to drop a bid on your own Ebay auction to push bidders up to and beyond the reserve. I've obviously never done that.

I remember being surprised to find out it was legal and common practice here, I wondered whether it may have been challenged in the US as they like a bit of legal action even more than we do.

Lots of stuff like that though, that would possibly be ruled illegal if it ever got to court.

Trading standards are of the opinion that ‘POA’ breaks consumer protection laws but car dealers aren’t likely to care unless a judge makes someone pay.
