Brake calliper rebuilds or new

Post by hot66 »

Is classic car automotive still going ? They’ve got a website but no tel number or prices etc

Think I need my front calipers rebuilding as car is pulling to the right with only slight brake pressure applied …. Or it could be a flexi that’s going bad ?

From memory I fitted 3.2 from callipers on my car and I see new ones are only £105 + vat from design911 each. From memory back in the day a refurb was £80 each ?

Anyone know what refurb prices are these days.

Check if the pads have worn evenly. I had a set that ended up like a wedge (for no apparent reason) and that made it pull all over.

And as you posted elsewhere if one caliper has air in the other will work first hence a pull

Bled through proper though so would be surprised if there’s any air in the system still

one front piston rusted/stuck in one caliper? That is 3 pistons free and one not = pulling to one side?

I have A type front caliper on mine, re-built 2 times in 34 years, rears original M type, rebuilt at least twice.

They rust despite all the grease and seals.
Hope mine are ok on Monday's drive if dry on the roads (wet today in the West Midlands)

Just looking at the Classiccar Automotive website and can't see any contact details as you say?

Any other good rebuilders out there?

Ralph.

Thanks James - will do.

They weren't actually for a Porsche they were for my sons VW fastback - they actually have a pair on the shelf ready to go too.

Evidently the website isn't theirs - it was made by someone who wanted to sell it to them. That's why it looks a bit odd and has no contact details.
