On the spur of the moment when solo to the NEC today for the Practical Classics show.

Got a discount on the parking last night, so that bought the first coffee.

Good show, surprisingly quiet to the extent you could walk in a straight line along and down all the cars!

So nice cars there, but nothing too flash.
One 911, one 356, 3 x 924, 2 x 944.

A few pics:

Want, it was fab, my school-boy dream car.

Found this to be oddly attractive:

Lovely car this, suicide doors at the front too:

Nice project car....

Hello James, when was that photo of the Andrews cars taken?
A mate of mine used KKV 394V to do the Monteberg rallysprint a few years back, when it was still the original Russell Brookes car

It’s a great pic. I am trying to g to make out all the cars in the Andrew’s fleet - clearly Sunbeams and Mantas as you would expect, a Chevette HSR at the back but what is that in front of it? Looks like an Audi Quattro?

The two front cars are Talbot Sunbeam Lotus. KKV 394 was Russel Brookes 1981 RAC car, so the picture is probably around that period.
From the flag, the Ulster Rally or Circuit of Ireland about the same time, British Open Rally Championship rounds, think MINTEX were sponsoring it back then?

I think it was probably much later than that. Firstly to have that big a selection of Andrews cars of different years, and also if you look closely, KKV has
RETRO BEAM on the front valance under the number plate.
It could have been one of the Circuit of Ireland Retros. I'm sure MikeB will be along in a minute!

There's also a GM-era SAAB 900 in the lineup.

I don’t think we can ever truly appreciate what the sports racer cars of that era looked like. By any standard they looked amazing but when you put them against the background of fiats, Renaults, fords that were everywhere back then they must have seemed like something from outer space
The simple things you see are all complicated
I look pretty young but I'm just backdated yeah
