Work continues apace with Barry.
Both of the front strut turrets had suffered from corrosion and previous repairs. Here are the "before" pics of the LH side...

Called by at Barry’s today…to agree the last detail fabrication for the XK…...as I was en-route to a certain place to see a certain progress on paint…Barry was busy on the near side footwell repair…one of a number of repairs yet to do….
Plenty of work yet to go but it’s looking better each time I see it….

Thanks jp! I'm looking forward to seeing it again soon. From the email updates, it certainly seems to be getting there.
"Easy" job after your XK! (by easy I mean well-practised and standard for Barry, not a new puzzle to be solved at every turn).

That looks a right bib-full.
I did my 73T coupe shell in 1989 and it was bad in the usual places, but 'pristine' compared to this shell.
Some big patches going in, but will be great when it has all cooled down.

If it makes you feel better Barry described your shell to me as ‘relatively straightforward’
I guess working on JPs Jag projects so long now that another 911 (must be over 60 by now?) is almost muscle memory.
He’s also seen the lattice of a 912 that’s shortly to be delivered so yours is simple
Lovely work as ever and will be as good as new, probably better.

It's not bad overall, and will be very nice when done. Just another cautionary tale that, when you get to the stage of really stripping a car, even reasonably decent ones need "a fair bit" of work.
I figure the shell will be good for another 60 years (at least) after this visit (not least because the paint and underseal etc will be much more protective than original, and it's going to lead a sheltered life) so it won't be my problem next time around!
