It’s only embarrassing if you hit it with your Tesla ;)

One good thing following my minor excursion which was motoring backwards into the tyre wall at Fordwater on a Goodwood trackday, and it was banged all the way down the side from headlight to tailight, - - was I got the bodyshop to check out some small paint bubbling on the back of the door shut by the B pillar. I was freaking out over this because I thought it was the indication of rotten kidney bowls and maybe the sills as well. But, thankfully this corrosion was very localised and all that was needed was a small repair. When I got the car a few years ago I spent a week or more with a high pressure hose and welding rods picking out all the muck, mud and debris I could find under the car. So now I know it's as nice underneath as it is on the top. There was another item which came to light when the car went back to Cridfords for steering geometry check after the bodyshop had finished pugging it up, was that the steering column bearings were history. I've always had a slight shimmy through the steering wheel even after tracking checks so I'm getting new bearings fitted and the guys at Cridfords say that it would have be the cause for the mild shake but should be eliminated after the new bearings are installed. The handbrake said no more trackdays. Of course that means the 911, fortunately I've still got the Buell and the 356 I can smash up.
