Door alignment.

Post by Loz »

Good evening all,
I'm sure a read a post once that detailed drilling a reference hole through the door hinges top and bottom to assist getting the door back exactly where it wants to go after getting alignment spot on.
Can anyone clarify this is with a link to such a post please? I've searched and nothings coming up.

Is it a simple case of just drilling? Maybe 1/8" hole?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Loz, how you doing mate. Doors.... once you have the hinges on the A post with any shims they stay there and are painted with the shell. Then just a matter of punching in the hinge pin when you re-hang the doors.

Best regards

Cheers Dave,

All good here mate hope you're well.

The problem I have is for some reason I left the area behind the hinge in bare metal. I think I'd seen it somewhere that that area was left bare. But I want to get some protection on it in case it goes rusty and bleeds down the A pillar in the future.
I guess I could run the tiniest line of seem sealer round it rather than take it off again.

Thanks again mate. 👍🏼

This method worked out well for me, one hinge at a time, a well supported door and a quick squirt of primer :)

Good luck :)
