Seems odd to ship a box of tool kits to dealers or the UK distributor than simply putting the kit in the car/
Maybe people stole them 'at the docks' or something...

Presumably the handbook was in the glove box so loose.
I think the toolkits possibly never saw the factory but were shipped direct from the suppliers Graham to be united with the car at the dealer.

Mike

Was the Bilstein jack added at the factory or dealer? It seems like these varied around dates too.

I would think the same as the tool kit. (easy to steal)

I don’t frequent this forum often but just read this thread, I have a complete correct 72 toolkit. Still has the date coded phoenix belt — only component in kit that has a date. The kits bag and components together do point to the year/s fairly accurately. Am currently discussing toolkit with a 72 owner who said he wanted one for a car whose had gone awol, so I dug it out. If it doesn’t go to him when back I might offer it here rather than put away in deep storage again. Not a “put together” set like some kits are it came to me complete from a rhd 911 a long time ago. Not touched it, still as I received not restored replated etc.

To Mike’s point it is probably more expensive especially factoring in time & effort to find buy items individually than the prices achieved for a full correct original set. Around Christmas two sold in USA on BAT …1700 and 1850 dollars before further 5 percent buyer premium. So another say 80 bucks or more. One of those didn’t even have the correct phoenix belt — presume somone had added a belt of brand not used by Porsche.Think other had something else not look correct but don’t recall what. Insured shipping payment fees etc will add a further chunk of change especially if buying a kit from overseas.

Steve
PS also have a lot of individual genuine tools and several toolbags (including a 68 bag I think) but haven’t looked in detail to properly inventory them.

That’s a shame Steve because you have a lot of knowledge and information to offer especially of course on the RS but your posts on the ESR often contain many photos of factory and other documents which I’m sure many on here would find very useful.

Mike

Coming from you Mike that’s a real compliment. My wife certainly thinks I’ve got way too much old Porsche crap on my study shelves

Since a few months ago I've been wondering whether the British are allowed to advertise parts on BaT.
Anyone know?
If so, do the items have to be shipped to BaT before the auction starts?
