Great photograph…wonderfully dated and full of such atmosphere…seemed to have caught the group in different states of being prepared for the shot…who’s car was the P1800…?

Roger Daltrey owned a P1800 - don't know if it was the one in that picture though ...

Yep, Roger Daltrey. Looks like it was a Jensen car, had a colour change between May & Nov '66. Tax due Mar '83, V5 issued Apr '87 - hopefully it didn't go to the breakers before it got old...

Pale yellow was quite popular back then.
I did 2 cars in Primrose yellow and carried that onto my 911 to in Champagne Yellow, a 356 colour.

Today, that would be a hard route to pass along politically?

The days when holidaying in Syria, Iran & Afghanistan was safer than motor racing. The 2cv was 'quite reliable'

My father in law did that route as far as Shiraz in the mid 70s in a held-together-with-riveted-on-biscuit-tin VW camper. Even then it was apparently mega sketchy with lots of bribes / arrests / running from bandits etc.

In more recent times Max's epic drive to Vietnam in the 912 was a mammoth undertaking ...
