How will allowing the car to rest on the wheels on the ground, affect the camber angle and closeness to your inner wing at. At the moment there is no loading on any of the suspension parts?

I was thinking in swing axle terms too, but I guess there won’t be any camber from an IRS set up, other than a degree or so you would dial in

We took the shocks off and pushed the A arms up and down through the travel with no clashing on the inner panels, this may change under dynamic load. Also the suspension is not set up correctly. The chassis is coming back home again in January so that I can complete everything.

I've had 6in, 7in & 8in x 15in steel wheels & the wider versions are very heavy - even before you fit the tyres - something to think about before investing in having some 16in or 17in widened ...

Wheel choice is always a very exciting part of the project and arguably the most important. Nothing complicated about this choice this time just just the budget.
I need at least 16 inch rim to fit over the calipers and an ET of 55 to 65 to fit under the arches.
A set of original Porsche alloys refurbished will be fraction of the price of anything new.
Currently on the bay at a price around the price of 1 new steel look alloy. These are Fronts: 7 x 17 ET55, and Rears: 8.5 x 50 ET50. Rears might be a bit tight.

This is a 993 powered KG must be awesome to drive. I believe the wheels are Sport Classic II which are 18 inch and much wider. Looks like they pulled the rear arch out to fit the wheel under. Love the look but not sure how to pie cut the metal without distorting the panel.

I can’t remember where you are Greg but I run 4 sets of staggered 17s (all twists) in my race car so have wheels available to take and test fit if it helps. Am in Notts.

The front nose section normally has a flat section in the steel swage line to accommodate the VW badge. So Pete did some magic to replace the swage line.

Tried fitting a 17x8.5 ET48 with a 255 tyre on the rear. Whilst it does fit it really is at the maximum. A large ET would have pushed the tyre inboard more and would fit.
Early days on the dash. The RHD dash by VW lost the metal shape and was replaced by a vinyl dash pad which replicated the LHD version. We wanted to have a more OEM look in steel/ paint.

Installation of the original RHD dash getting closer to final result. Its not actually fitted yet just a trial run. The eyebrow over the glove box need working which is easier to complete with the dash out of the car.

The plan is to get as close as possible to a RHD dash that looks like the original LHD look. Clean, painted, simple.
You can see the hole for the steering column is in completely the wrong place, I have a CV linkage kit that joins the two at greater that 10 degrees. Also acts to meet the requirements of the IVA test regulation Annex 1 which requires collapsible steering so as prevent a front impact pushing the steering wheel into the driver.

Does the KG fuel tank sit behind the dash bulkhead as per VW Beetle, or do you need a new/modified tank?
