Rear view mirror glass?

Post by silverone »

Does anyone have any experience of replacing the mirror glass (only) in a rear view mirror? I would like to keep the original frame and mount if possible...

Mine managed to detach itself from the windshield in the heat of the day, and then fall directly onto the gear stick knob, smashing in the process!

I am sure if you went to your local glass shop they could cut a piece of mirror glass to fit and glue into the rear view mirror frame?

That's a good idea, thank you!

It turns out that my mirror that I thought was original, is from a later model... Round fixing to the windshield as opposed to the rectangular shape. I should know by now to expect 'the next thing' not to be original.

I tried and failed. It looked like a badgers arse. Better off buying a repro as you won't be able to get the glass under the outer plastic lip.
