I’ve owned 2 years. Owner before me bought the car in 2006 from Paul Stephens for £8k and owned it 15 years. He has receipts for about £45k but clearly spent a lot more than that. He went though a divorce so it sat with some refitting jobs to be done etc. I’ve then spent pretty much £20k getting her to this final point.
Further details:
- £30,000+ spent at OPC Cambridge on new metal and paint back in 2006/2007 when prices weren’t the worst. Probably be nearer to £70k now for the receipts included. New wings, bumpers, rubbers etc
- Over £10,000 spent on engine parts from Pelican, with engine rebuild done as a home build, but the OPC Cambridge guy checked it all over at owners house before being sealed and installed. Lovely rebuilt engine and dyno’d at circa 230hp. Done about 20k miles since. After sitting around a bit due to the divorce, I had the oil leaks sorted by Rob at Neil Bainbridge’s place, along with a new clutch.
- Gearbox apparently was also rebuilt at OPC Cambridge. I can’t find that in the history but it shifts perfectly so believe that to be true.
- £6,000 spent last year on factory correct seat retrim and carpets by Southbound Trimmers.
- I’ve had a Blaupunkt DAB headunit put in with upgraded speakers.
- I spent a lot of money putting all the small details right, and replacing bits that looked visually worn.
The car looks great on the outside an inside; it’s a lovely place to be and she drives great.
There are jobs that can still be done if you were aiming for concours, but to me she’s to be driven so I wanted her to be near mint, without taking to that concours detail where I’d be frightened to drive her. So in the years since paint she naturally has the odd new chip etc. Wheels I hadn’t got around to restoring yet. But really she is the perfect car to drive with pride and enjoy as she sits.
