Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
The long long queue was made or made worse by the incoming traffic being set into 2 lanes at the entrance, which then became 1 lane up the hill, then 2 and again to 1 and this repeated for the loop round to the bottom of the area then a single flow to the marshalled parking. Last bit was quick after the car check/book/tokens.
All staff on the site were FJ people, but it needed more.
Never had my 911 that hot before which was a worry, but the car cooled and the run home was clean if hard work in the traffic to Kidderminster.

Never experienced that queueing problem when they used to host the hillclimb there ...

Getting the car ready for Megaphonics on Sunday.
The apparently inocuous task of tacking on the nuts holding the seatbelt to the tunnel grew from a 30 minuter to all day, finally finishing at 9:30pm.
I had to use all my ingenuity to get the nuts into position to weld.
Protection from sparks
Since the seats were out and the carpets up I stripped any loose paint and sound and heat insulation, repainted the floor and back seat Wells.
The paint didn't dry quickly enough to put new deadening down so that will wait for another day.
I sanded and painted the gear stick and inserted two new rubber washers into the G50 linkage to stiffen it up a bit.
Interestingly, I knew the G50 linkage can rattle and that the official Porsche fix was to cable tie
some foam insulation around it. I didn't realise until now that had already been done on my car.
The gear change feels a lot tighter with the extra washers.

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
Evening drive in the 914 with my best friend. My log book said I last drove the car in April! When I straighten the steering wheel.
I took care not to let the engine start immediately and didn't press the accelerator. This meant that I saw the oil pressure build to 50psi before I started.
I had forgotten how much I enjoy driving this car. Engine comes alive from 3-5k
Unfortunately, the steering wheel pad dropped off so I glue on and left to cure overnight.
Longer drive tomorrow and hopefully a road trip in October

Cleaned it
It’s on display as part of the Pistonheads birthday bash tomorrow at Bicester Heritage. Mum only lives 6 miles away so came down tonight and covered it in dead things

I dropped the 996 Turbo off for its MOT yesterday. Took a photo of the mileometer when I did.
And when I picked it up.

Next time weigh it before and after so you know how much filler has been added...

I'd go back and make a noise about that. They'll deny of course but if nothing else might deter them from joy riding again.

Bummer. Hope it’s just the plate
Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
I saw your car at the pistonheads event. Looked lovely. People were talking very favourably about it.

I parked in a hanger today at the Pistonheads 25th Birthday event. Fabulous mix of machines from every angle.
Oh and they gave the car best of show, which was a bit weird as I just went to look at all the other cars not win anything… happy with that though
