Another factor - I assume the leak came to light after the restoration, at which point they may have been in the same boat as you now, having paid top dollar and not wanting to throw good money after bad. Still, whoever's to blame, it would be a lot better if knowledge of that bodge had passed along with the car.
1970 911T, Signal orange (Restoration thread)
1988 3.2 Carrera backdate, Black
2001 996 Turbo, Lapis blue (am I allowed to put that here?)
I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

Just curious Jason, but from the info on the thread, Alan stated that the job they did (a braised repair) was not the bodge you found (rubber hose bridging a 3" gap). Have any more facts come to light to support the actual turn of events?

New Car Woes - 1...Update
That’s the only repair to the pipe in the sills Graham. Alan said the rubber hose was just to separate the two pipes but that’s not what was later found to be the case…gridgway wrote:Just curious Jason, but from the info on the thread, Alan stated that the job they did (a braised repair) was not the bodge you found (rubber hose bridging a 3" gap). Re: New Car Woes - 1...Update
Quick update.
Plan is to now try and at least do a proper oil pipe repair (not a complete bodge job) over the next couple of months.
If that works and holds then it will at least allow for some other small jobs that need doing to be done also (oil drips related so need system fully enclosed) and perhaps get some light use over the summer?
Sadly a full proper repair with new pipes is not going to happen again this year but at least we might get some temporary use out of the car if it works?
I'll update with pics when we do so you can laugh at our skills....

just seen your picture of your Omega next to a slate grey machine.. assume this is the offending article? - looks like you've got it out on the road at least. just in time for summer!
