Hi from Iberian Peninsula

Post by Dennes »

Hi All,

I am officially a new member here.
I have sneaked into the forum to read some posts that I am interested in.
I am also a member of other forums, but I keep most of my restoration private.
I have a 1970 911 Albert blue with a Beige interior, at this point is mostly only the chassis
I look forward to learning more from all of you here, as well as contributing with the small amount of knowledge I developed on this particular model.

All the best,
Dennes

Thank you hmg66!
Sure, I will put it here then. :sign2:
This car has some interesting points and marks with some history but I still didn't figure it out.

It has been black on the 1980s and white since 1990s...

Hi Bootsy, Thank you.
Yes, my car was sitting low, this is the first shot when I got it 6 years ago (the rear shocks were done)
The wheel arches from the back are something between ST/Turbo and the front ones are ST lookalikes.

Hi Sladey, Thank you for your message and my apologies for the late reply.
It has been a busy week.
I do have lots of photos but not concours, just photos for the record.
I am also fine sharing them.

This resin dot on the roof, used to be a hole containing a lamp, between paintings, the lamp has been removed, but the wiring harness was left, which connected to a switch on the dashboard. One more thing that doesn't seem very factory original :)

Still need to redo the Hood, so it goes back to be a F model.

You’re welcome Dennes. So have you gone narrow body again? I can’t see those rear arches in the pic….

Looks like you are making great progress

Thanks.
Yes, I was planning to go back to the narrow body. Since for me is more beautiful as a Albert Blue with Beige interior (original).
However, it is still not decided since I found out that this car used to race in the 70s and 80s...

There is a mess/confusion with certain adaptations/changes that make no sense to me still to this day.

Those rear arches were made of fiberglass.
To name a few of the things that I already discovered, it has been painted black in the 70s and then white in late 80s.

Some other things that I still cannot figure out, such as a switch for keeping the MFI cold start always on, a lamp on the roof, a second gas pump connected in parallel with a switch on the dashboard, a halda counter attached on the glovebox with a cable that went to the transmission (sold it) and came with an extra rear fiberglass ducktail, an extra 73RS gear shifter, and services done by a Ferrari dealership.
Which lead me to have lots of questions about its past.

So my progress is mainly on cleaning and plating other parts, leaving the chassis for now until I clear it out with Porsche.

Cheers,
Dennes

I would think that the second fuel pump was a back up in case of failure of the primary pump. I have used a two pump system on a competition car; one to fill a swirl pot holding a litre of fuel to prevent starvation, and the other standard pump to the engine, after the swirl pot.

Sounds like an interesting history

Hi Wayne,
That sounds right. But the car did not have a swirl pot, but it makes sense now.

Well, I also have some old notes from the car. Apart from the things that I already wrote there, it is a matching numbers Italian car.
So, it is a bit difficult to trace its history entirely.

Is there any open post about this vehicle? It looks interesting and I don't think I've seen it on the national forums! It would be interesting if you restore it to open one in "the national forum......"
