swapmeet

Post by Ignatzcatz »

Would there be any small chance of having the swapmeet date brought forward so the wonderful British weather would not demand we dress up as if we were embarking on a mid winter hike of the North Yorkshire moors. OK yah, I like to wear my Barbour jacket and pull on the Hunters but not when I'm trying to flog old Porsche stuff. May? early June?
Did I hear someone say soft, shandy sipping Southerner?

I think that's a good call.

Despite residing only a few minutes down the road, for the last one I decided I couldn't face hauling old parts onto a selection of tables and tarpaulin only for them to get soaked and/or blown away, and then have to all be dried and cleaned before repacking if they didn't sell, so opted this time not to man a stall unfortunately. And there definitely seemed to be fewer people happy to cope with the conditions compared to the initial bravado of previous years.

Appreciate the effort that goes into organising these events, finding suitable slots is never going to be easy, and all kudos to Gus and the team for doing such a great job in taking the initiative to pull anything together, at any time. However, I'm sure some summer sun would do wonders for traders and buyers alike.

I think Beaulieu autojumble have it right after all their years, May and September each year, so for 'us' I think May is good.

Hi May would be great, if doable for Gus and the team, Could be useful to get the missing bits from a winter rework.

Any more thoughts for a May - ish swapmeet?? There are a few possible venues locally i.e. decent fields with pubs attached but locally means down South which is not much use for anybody North of Watford or beyond.

I know you aren't a fan but Greatworth, IMHO, is a wonderful location. It's only the weather that lets us down

Couldn't agree more.
Weather is a trow of the dice, but mid May should be 'risk-free' enough?

If I'm selfish, 20/21st would be my pick.

Something in May or June would be good - we have to have some better weather by them surely!
