Looking magnificient, Matt - great progress!
Buy a new "Alu-Heckklappe" and keep the original ST deck lid as it is, it is too beautiful that way!

I did think about that Jan but if I don’t fit it - along with all my other genuine parts
- and fit a repro lid instead, the car would be worth a fraction of the value with them all fitted.
I have plenty of photos of it as it is to record it for posterity however, so we’re going to use it as it’s such a nice item and so straight!

Looking great Matt. Still can’t believe a Beverly Hills Car Club car was so solid. That risk paid off big time.

No carbs - the type 911/70 race engine was a 2.5l twin-plug MFI unit with high butterfly throttle bodies.neilbardsley wrote:How come you have the black throttle bodies and carbs? Which are going on?matteo68 wrote:Also, these arrived…

Just to clarify Neil, the carbs are for a different engine Sam’s also building - for a 914/6 GT.matteo68 wrote:No carbs - the type 911/70 race engine was a 2.5l twin-plug MFI unit with high butterfly throttle bodies.neilbardsley wrote:How come you have the black throttle bodies and carbs? Are the new front wings from an OPC? If so, what's the quality like? Do they fit well?
Re: From ‘72T to 2.5 S/T: GeLo #44
Yes they’re Porsche Classic parts. As you can see from the photos the fit is excellent - we were originally going to use Dansk wings as they were going to be £340 cheaper for the pair. However when they arrived Neil quickly realised the quality was terrible (unlike the rear quarters we used) and would need about 25 hours’ work to make them fit so they got sent back and these ones are great.

They look fabulous
I’m sure you are already on it but my only suggestion would be to dry fit the lamps and grilles. I had to move the mountings just slightly to get things to fit as I wanted. Rest of the wing was perfect

Thanks for the tip Gary! I’ll pass that onto Angus. I know we’re going to do first assembly prior to paint and after competition body mods have been done but these trial fitments might need to be done before that.

Re: From ‘72T to 2.5 S/T: GeLo #44
I installed diy 2 front Dansk wings on my 73T 3 years ago as the originals were getting tatty and the car was going for a glass-out repaint, so put them on.
Fit was surprisingly good but the panel gap between the door leading edge and the wing trailing edge was 3 times greater.
I managed to get 50% of that out with a struggle.
The headlamp location Gary refers to was awful. The top flanges to hook the ring onto were huge and the whole bowl i think out of shape.
Took as long to sort those out as getting the wing gap better.
It will be interesting to see how gus gets on at Greatworth with the Classic wings.
I now wish I had lead loaded the door leading edge to close those gaps!

Re: From ‘72T to 2.5 S/T: GeLo #44
What I can contribute from the restoration of my '72 in terms of fender fit is that the new Classic wings seem to really fit way better than anything else available.
Since they were not yet available at the time, I sourced second-hand original wings, under the impression that being produced from old / original mouldings would warrant for a good fit.
In the end, I payed 500€ per side and we still needed at least the same amount on top in labour to adapt them to the rest of the body (and the fit today is still not perfect, but that is another topic...)
My coach builder restored his 1973 Targa a few years later with the then newly available PAG Classic wings and he reported significantly lower adaption work, with the additional benefit of KTL priming from the factory.
I recall that the production tools were newly constructed and optimised to modern standards.
Car is getting nicer and nicer, Matt - excited for you!
