912/356 graphite exhaust gaskets

Post by Timo »

Some time ago I fitted a new exhaust and heat exchangers to my 912 and due to the fact that I needed to spend time squaring up all the flanges before I was happy with the fit I decided to look into options for more substantial gaskets to ensure a perfect seal would be created.

In the end I drew up my original gasket on CAD and approached a manufacturer of automotive gaskets to have some of these graphite gaskets made for my car.

These gaskets are very similar to the ones offered in the US (where they seem to be quite popular).
They are 3mm thick but crush to approx 50% when fitted which creates a really nice seal, they are also able to withstand pressure of 140 bar so unlikely to fail during use! They are not reusable gaskets so are likely to need replacing after each exhaust/exchanger removal.

I have run them on my car for the last two years and they have been faultless.

They will fit all 912 models from 65 through 69 and all 356 models that share the same head port as 912

For comparison graphite version on left, vs standard on right

Originally I had a very small batch made but I am happy to consider having an additional batch made if there is interest from other owners.

For ddkers I am able to offer a set of 4 gaskets inc U.K. postage for £30

They look like a great product. Well done but hopefully my exhaust isn't coming off for ages :)

Ok I’m hoping to place an order for these by the end of this week so this is a final call before I do so in case there are any stragglers who would like some.

Estimated manufacture time is approx 2-3 weeks, I’ll need to receive payment (via PayPal or bank transfer) before that point to allow prompt delivery to everyone once they arrive.

I’ll ping out payment details via pm once the order has been placed.

OK folks, just a quick update on these.

Order has now been placed, lead time for manufacture is likely to be a couple of weeks.

I'll pm payment details to everyone who hasn't already paid.

Ok so due to the fact that I had to commit to a minimum order quantity when I ordered the last batch of these I have ended up with a few extra sets.

If anybody needs a set now or in the future just drop me a message on this thread or pm me.

Cheers

Tim
