Weird oil leak 71 911s

Post by rft218 »

Hi All,

I have a 71 s and have oil which appears to be coming from under the injection pump. It is appearing on the nearside fibreglass fan cover between the throttle bodies and the injection pump around the middle to front (of the car) throttle stack. It is then running down over the rocker covers and onto the heat exchangers.

I did check the oil feed pipe from the engine to the pump which looks ok but I am not sure how the oil gets back into the engine, can remember putting another pipe. the injection pump was recond'd by Michael Burgess and I cant see anything.

Before i get in an take the pump out has anyone any ideas of where oil may come from in this area?

Thanks

Roger

Injection pumps do leak, even after refurb... worth a close look at every seal on the pump itself. From memory there is an external oil seal on the main shaft (the one driven from the engine via the belt) - I'd probably start there, if all the hoses and their couplings are OK.

Having taken the pump off I am pretty sure it is coming from back of the the stop solenoid, which co-incidentally doesn't seem to be functioning.

Can you take these apart? or is it sealed, and if so does anyone have one, part 0 330 101 016?
