Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
Like its owner my 981 is getting old, although it does have on 16,000 miles on its odometer.
Winter has upset it and the battery died leaving me to fathom out how to open the bonnet and then lift out and extremely heavy battery. I got help.
I phoned Porsche for a quote. £320 and a 2 year guarantee. My local motor factor sold me an Exide with a 3 year guarantee for £168 and I was back in action, but except that the heater fan had stopped working.
Both faults that occurred on my new 718, but under guarantee. A fan motor from Porsche is about £600 from Porsche and £60 from AliExpress. This might be better given the failure rate of these fans.
In the event, searching produced a cheaper solution. Open the bonnet, remove the battery cover, lift the heater fan filter cover, reach in and spin the fan. Obviously with it off.
Worked like a charm, but galling to think that Porsche supplies a flakey heater motor on such an expensive car. VW parts bin special?

A few others have had the very same issue and fix for free on the Boxster section of PCGB forum recently.
My 987.2 is getting very close to 75,000 now, but running better than ever.
Still think these modern Porsche's need regular use, but I still have a distant feeling of something looming!

I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

I'm not sure if long term it's of massive use. Seeing that once you get the car setup.
Some small jobs today. Which included soldering one of the wires onto the speaker. Handbrake adjustment and being show how to balance the carb using a pipe

I picked up two nuts from Alpo in Haarlem. I'll hopefully pull the 964 out of the garage and turn it around at some point this week as long as the weather stays mild, then I can replace the passenger side front strut and spring, plus both rears.

I run dual afr garages on my car and think these days they are invaluable for tuning

A great way of getting the jetting just right without a rolling road.neilbardsley wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 7:08 pm It's on the leftside between the heatexchangers and muffler

Drove the 914 up to Steve Kerti's Classic Fabrications to have roll bar and door braces installed. Design all OK'd by MSUK scrutineer prior to the work. Should add to torsional rigidity... Next job poly-bronze front suspension bushes to match those on the rear, along with monoball top strut mounts, and a Quaife quick-rack conversion.
