At this point my wife decided to have a significant birthday party in my shed so once again it became a party venue

Image

It’s funny, but when we were setting up there were loads of people helping, but when taking it all down and clearing the crap up it was mainly me. Actually I’m wrong, it wasn’t funny.

I was warned by party goers against messing too much with ‘their venue’. Tail wagging the dog.

Party out of the way and I was able to get on with the drawers, and finished the first one.

Image

I was initially pleased with it as all the drawers fitted well and the gaps were tidy. However I realised that as I was cutting the drawer fronts I’d managed to turn one or more pieces upside down, so lost the continuation of the grain.

I didn’t make that mistake again

O/T - Der uber-shed

Post by sladey »

After they were all fitted I gave them all a few coats of danish oil

Image

And here’s the end cupboard with sliding shelves

Image

I’m going add a trim piece onto the front of those shelves to hide the groove you can see at either end

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been running network cable to the barn so I can have decent Wi-Fi (and music) in there.

I’m about to order a shedload of shadow foam for the insides of all those drawers - will let you know how I get on

Excellent work, looks great. How will you remember what’s in which drawer?

Still waiting to hear when the DDK party in your shed is going to be held?

.

What a fabulous 'space' you're creating - something tells me it will be a bit of an anti-climax once it's finished though - I sense another 'project' in the pipeline ...

Yeah, all looks good but I'm not seeing the beer fridge in there yet. So 5/10 so far.

IIRC Sladey was going to do a 100% rebuild of his 911 once this was done?

Fab garage that needs to be USED.
DDK garden meeting over there in the late spring sounds a good idea to me, he will need a drinks cabinet for that. :)

Thanks for the kind comments guys. Yes I’m looking forward to working on a car - currently all my petrolhead fixes come from here and watching retro power uncut on a Monday morning on YouTube

I see there was a sound system at the far end for Mrs S’s birthday.

If you like I can bring my controller and extensive collection of electronic music for the DDK party. What could be better for a German car club than a Berghain style techno sex party?
