Apparently this guy has a garage full of Ferraris including a red 250 gto. I'm sure if he gave me just one he wouldn't miss it that much.

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
I've known John Goodwin for almost 2 decades.
He has Hillclimbed for many more and is quite an adventurer with many nice cars.
His wife also competes.
He once offered me a drive in his 250, but I declined..
Too much responsibility!
A really nice family, and not scared to peddle them very hard indeed.

Yes, sprint and hillclimb association sprint. Lovely patina on the interior. Paintwork all mint.rhd racer wrote:Was that at Curborough Rob? Looks lovely
His wife unsettled the yellow 328 on the rumble strip round Fradley today and slid off backwards into the barrier. I felt gutted for her, but as it turned out there was no damage, completely unhurt and she carried on the rest of the day.911hillclimber wrote:I've known John Goodwin for almost 2 decades.

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
Amazing photo taken 32 years ago by the incredibly talented (and slightly insane) French photographer Dingo (if you're not familiar with his work, do a quick Google search...). The editor of the magazine for which it was shot had a friend who was a pilot and asked him if he could get a couple of mates along for a photoshoot to illustrate a group test of cars rivalling the new Renault 19 GTI. The pilots agreed but pointed out that they needed to fly at a minimum of 170km/h (105mph) to avoid becoming unstable or, worse still, stalling.
Now, when I've done car to car photoshoots (dozens over the years) we've rarely driven at more than 50mph (40mph is more common!) - let me tell you, driving at 'only' 50mph with a yard or two between a group of cars for a prolonged period is pretty scary. So imagine driving the length of a runway at 105mph+, in close proximity to eight other cars, while being followed by three aircraft that are less than three metres off the ground.
As they explained, they had no insurance (who would have covered them?) and only the sketchiest of permission. But what a great image!
