Front Windscreen Trim

Post by ghia70 »

Hi,

Is the front windscreen trim Aluminium. Looks like it is but seems to have a chrome plated finish. Was the original plated or anodised ? Can they be polished.

Car is a 1968 model

Thanks

The answer is yes they can be re anodised but you will need to flat them back first to remove the old anodise and any fine marks in the surface first so you are left with a perfect finish. Anodising will not cover up any marks in the surface so ideally you will want to make sure they are flatted back to something close to a mirror shine before re anodising.

And by the time you’ve done that you may as well buy new ones as maintaining the shape will be next to impossible

I have some spare ones for free collection in Leicester area. My screen fitter refused to fit 2nd hand ones and so I bought new for an easy life.
They bend easily and so collecting IS required !

I got them trough the local OPC, came in suitable boxes that retained the shape…. and no postage charge ;)

Thanks for your responses went with New from OPC Colchester - great price - approx £40 cheaper than other suppliers.
