That's a nice bit of paint on top of excellent preparation (and now very hidden, but highly skilled metalwork).
2006 RHD 997 Carrera (but DDK remains in my heart - also now no longer)
1972 LHD 2.4T with '73 2.4T CIS motor - gone to a new DDK home
1994 RHD 993 Carrera - gone!
1968 LHD 911L - was the Wife's but now in new hands :-(

I shot the original Hulme IROC car for the owner in California a couple of months ago - a real 'bucket list' car for me, and great to see this thread now. Good luck with the project, the attention to detail already sets this apart.

Paid a visit to Gary and Giulio today, a couple of great projects on the go as always although couldn't help feeling the colours were taking up space where something Mexico should be! :? ......

I have to admit my car/project mojo has been absent for a quite a while now to the extent where even DDK has become a distant memory however a delivery from Kendal by the Angel of the North/South/North/South and back again (Mr Green I think owing you a beer or two has now become a small brewery! ) certainly sparked my interest.....

....if you look through the records of genius Porsche gearbox builder Mike Bainbridge you'll find that build number 347 is to 3.0 RSR specification with RSR ratios AZ, HX, NT, RP and TL, a ZF limited slip differential set to 40% for road use, an RSR spray bar oil pump kit that will be cooled with the aid of a front arch trombone oil cooler, which has been slightly warmed with a beefier 8:35 CWP and aluminium side plate, backdated to incorporate the correct 74 mechanical speedo drive and built with the usual care and attention and MBE upgrades like his own clamp plate etc that go hand in hand with decades of experience in building brilliant road and racing Porsche gearboxes.

Happy?.....what do you think? 8) ....

....after years of storage the gearbox cases weren't the prettiest but so nice to retain the car's original matching numbers and after a good coat of wax they'll be just perfect.....

Huge thanks as ever to the brilliant Mike Bainbridge, your skills are second to none :notworthy:

Can't wait to mount this to 320HP and see what it can do!

Fabulous detail as always Darren and agree about the Mexico Blue …… although the other projects do look pretty cool as well (any more details?).

We’ll get your Porsche mojo back and ready for a running in trip to the Alps!

Excellent progress, thanks Darren!
May the mojo be with you. :)

I share the view of a great base product but equally important is superb craftsmanship applied in the build.

My latest engine build fixed a terrible engine job that only lasted for 5000km…

 ......and I actually had a quick look at a map before posting!

Still, every day's a school day and amazed to discover that not everywhere north of Watford is Yorkshire!

Hi Darren,
My Yellow ST replica is sitting pretty at Gary's and you'll have to wait in the queue!
Suspension and brakes sorted but lots to do as I am planning to take it to Classic Le Mans.
Mike has done the gearbox for that car and I have the same RSR oil pump and spray bar in it as you.
I hope he doesn't see your suggestion that he is in Yorkshire rather than Cumbria or he'll charge you double next time!
see you soon,
Martin
