Porsche 75th anniversary rally

Post by Warren914 »

I bought my first 914 in summer 1998. It was then that I learned of a 50th anniversary rally happening in California. It was too late to plan for a road trip from Nova Scotia, Canada. I said I'd make the 75th anniversary rally in 2023 instead. Since then, the road trip has changed. The car will be loaded aboard a ferry in early April 2023 and delivered to Liverpool, England. From there I plan to attend 914 International at Saint Tropez, France, and explore from Pompeii through Shetland before heading home in August.

Will there be a rally organized by the Porsche factory or museum during summer 2023? I've emailed the museum and gotten nothing. Has anyone heard anything??

The Porsche club GB usually organises a couple of factory trips each year. One is short so you would fly out of the UK to Stuttgart (you book your own flight) then PCGB sorts out the three or four night hotel stay and visit to the museum. The longer affair would be where in addition the the factory trip there is an organised tour over about one week to other places of interest. I did the short trip and the cost was about £400 plus flights of course and the longer is into four figures. There isn't anything on the PCGB web pages as yet but as soon as anything is published I'll send you the relative info. You could always arrange your own visit with hotels etc. Stuttgart is quite accessable from the UK.

I'm hoping there will be something around 7-11 June.

I will have my car at 914 International in Saint Tropez on 1-4 June. I'll be driving through Stuttgart and plan to stop at the Porsche museum, and possibly the Karmann museum in Osnabruck also. Travel time (and budget) is limited and I'll be in Scotland end of June, so LeMans won't be on the itinerary. Hope to meet with other 914 owners in the UK along the trip also.

Whilst you are in Stuttgart take some time out to go see the Mercedes museum, it's very close to the Porsche place and as museums go it is a better layout with a load of interesting stuff, cars too.

Both the Porsche and Mercedes museums are on the itinerary.
Still waiting to see if Porsche announces any events for their 75th anniversary...

Motorworld is also incredibly worth a look while you're in Stuttgart.
