What stone chip?

Post by RobFrost »

Anybody recommend a stone chip coating for the underbody?

I guess I want something in the original grey, overpaintable, and applyable with a schutz gun.

Also, the floor has been well-primed with several coats, but I'm of a mind to cover it in a completely non-porous paint before applying the stone chip - so as to prevent moisture spreading underneath. Any suggestions what best to do in that regard?

1988 3.2 Carrera backdate, Black
2001 996 Turbo, Lapis blue (am I allowed to put that here?)
I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

A 2K epoxy primer underneath would be a good start. Water impermeable unlike standard primer.

I used Gravitex to redo my fuel tank in the rubberised finish. Sprayed with a Schutz gun. Not sure how well it matches the OEM finish underneath.

I did 2K epoxy mastic then Raptor underbody coating from a Shutz gun.

The raptor is available in different colours and can be overpainted (as it was on my sills) but I just did black as it’s under the car.
