Boxster Insurance surprise

Post by 911hillclimber »

With several on here with these great cars, this may be of interest.
I just had my renewal quote from LV this morning, month's advance notice.
Been with then now for 4 years.

Exact same cover as 21/22 and the renewal has dropped from £278 to £235 despite hitting my 70th birthday last March.

Good start to the day. :alien:

Might cover the increase in petrol price :)

I find insurance prices are a bit random.

A few weeks ago at the renewal of my Yaris GR insurance I removed my son, as he will soon be going back to University and saved myself £200+ on the premium.

A few days later he crashed his own car and is now without a car whilst Aviva deal with the claim.

I bite the bullet and ring up my insurance and disclose the accident to get a quote to put him back on the Yaris for the remaining 11+ months.

With the additional accident declared, etc the quote was £104 for the period - makes no sense but I wasn't complaining.

PS I wouldn't tell them you hit something back in March - they might get the wrong idea :)

I recently received the Insurance renewals for my daily drivers, the one policy (Mini) had gone up 7% (hey hoe!) but the other policy (BMW) had gone up a massive 21% (following a big rise the previous year).
I was advised to try a multi-car option, I had multi-car some years ago but was advised by the same company back then to split them!!!. The combined quote was much better. I asked about my C4S which was due for renewal the following month, the renewal quote was £146, down from £164 last year – brilliant. Adding it to the multi-car policy only saved £3 so I did not bother.

I was told 3 cars in the house hold usually helps, to which I said, tongue in cheek, what about if you have 5 cars in the household but 2 are classics not insured by you? “Not a problem let me look” – the quote for my multi-car 2 daily drivers dropped to less than original renewal quote for my BMW. I basically saved £200 plus £18 on the C4S.

Very happy

Interesting!
The Boxster is covered for 12k miles John, is the C4s less miles?

Quick Go Compare exercise this cool afternoon...

Reduced the miles to 8K/year, far closer to reality.

Good cover comes in the form of the Post Office, £163.
Need to look at the details closer, but quite a difference to LV @£235

Off topic, but I just updated my 911 policy to reflect the change from a 2.0l motor to the 2.4l motor. Was an extra £23 for 11 months (plus the annoying but clearly described admin fee).
Seemed ok to me.

I am with LV - Covered for 5K miles in the C4S, probably done about 1K in the last 12 months with no road trip.
