I have given all these options some consideration.
Why not use a flat fan... (can someone reduce the size of this image please?)

Hi Ian
I can only speak for myself here but my pension fund wouldn't have stood for it... ;-)
However I love the battered open trumpets in this pic.

All the best

Well it’s been a while, so I guess it’s time for an update.
I’ve now managed to put over a thousand miles under the ‘Brockleys’, so it’s a quick exhaust fettle (only a re-seal as the A6 has taken its toll) before the car goes into my local rolling road for a tune…
Hopefully work allowing I’ll change the oil at some point as well!

All the best folks

Afternoon All
So in the true DDK fashion of 'not leaving things well alone', it's time to tidy up a few little details (shinny stuff curtesy of Roger Bray and Fibersteel).
There's nothing major involved, just a few holes to drill...

Image

NB. next week you can expect requests for info on repair and repainting fibreglass... :-)

All the best

Well the sun was out so I had a go at replacing the old 'toilet' latch covers with the correct Fibresteel version...

What we started with...
Image

Don't leave the seat up!
Image

What was underneath, the new latch covers hide the old holes (hurrah!)
Image

The new covers in place, the masking tape lines will clean off and I managed not to mess anything up...
Image

So I moved on to the bonnet crest...

To misquote the 'Rave' generation...

Big badge...
Image

Little badge...
Image

The bit in between...
Image

And the attempts of a previous owner to fit the big badge!
Image

As I didn't fancy re-glassing and repainting, but the lower holes needed something to cover them, so it was the FiA (well a sticker) to the rescue!
So with some holes drilled in almost the right place and no paint ruined by drill slippage I moved to the rear...

Now the easy bit, just drill one new hole and replace the battered, old, 'sticky out' number plate with a nice new 'sticky on' one..

All done at the rear, small badge and new plate fitted.

Well that's it for now, I've done some work on and even drilled holes in my car, all without damaging any paint... I'll stop while I'm ahead!

All the best

Well done. My drill always jumps so I've not dared to use it on my car

Subtle changes but it's little things like this that make all the difference ... 8)

Thanks guys
We’ll see how steady my hands and drill are when I have to drill holes in the ‘virgin’ fibreglass rear wing…

Hi Guys
Buoyed up by passing the MOT first time (and with no advisories) I decided to fit the last of the ‘shinny bits’ from Fibresteel. So the 550 now has authentic looking latch covers on the rear clam, however unlike the front there are no latches underneath, just a little more good old ‘Replica’ fakery
Image

It has too be said I still get a ‘sicky’ feeling as I cut into lovely flat, clean and shinny fibreglass with a drill, a spade bit and then Dremel, this time it seems I got away with it…

Hi All
Time for a new years (OK, it’s a little late) update, the plan for this year was to spend some surplus cash on ‘resurrecting’ my Hi-Fi (It’s been left in the boxes it was packed in when I moved five years ago) and just drive rather than play about with cars, but the motoring Gods have other plans…
The rain up here has done its best to justify the US term ‘Bathtub Porsche’, even under a decent cover my seats are sodden! Given I never really liked the quilted double stich patten (more Ferrari than 50’s Porsche) I have taken the opportunity to have them recovered and some of the padding removed so I sit more ‘in’ them than ‘on’ them…

Before.

Image
Image

I’ll post ‘after’ pics and seat detail once they’re done…

An interior pic just because I love how it looks...
Image

All the best
Ian F.

PS. As the Spyder is pretty much unusable, my ‘daily’ the normally bulletproof 997 has decided to join in with a stuck drivers window and a flashing ‘check engine light’, so its currently having a very pricey holiday at my local OPC.
Looks like the Hi-Fi will be staying boxed for a while longer!
