Beautiful 930 Turbo LE!

Post by Williams-Crawford »

The 1989 Limited Edition (LE) 930 Turbo, produced as the ‘last hurrah’ to a turbocharged era, would be the ultimate headturner at any Porsche gathering as Porsche supplied just 53 examples, all RHD, one for each of UK dealership.

Each started life as a ‘standard’ 3.3 Turbo, before a trip to the ‘Exclusive’ team at Zuffenhausen for some hand-finished magic.

Customers could choose from a host of no-cost options for exterior and interior colours and trims, to make their own LE unique.

This particular car was believed to have been ordered by the then Chairman of Newcastle United Football Club, Sir John Hall. He had a penchant for purchasing cars with a black and white interior….. hence this LE is finished in its special Linen and black leather. This combination perfectly compliments its Grand Prix white paintwork and matching Fuchs alloys.

On the outside, these 930 are visually very striking, with the poster pin-up wide body work and big rear wing. The side intake strakes and deep front spoiler (with additional oil cooler) follow the styling of the Slant-Nose (Flachbau) SE model, and importantly, the LE is also blessed with the 330 bhp 3.3 litre engine of the SE – larger turbo charger, higher lift camshafts, higher boost pressure, larger intercooler and quad exhaust system.

Featuring the G50 5 speed manual gearbox with short shift, and option M220 Limited Slip Diff.

Moving inside, there is leather throughout, extending over the seats, dash, centre console and door trims.

3-spoke steering wheel with a special Porsche crest badge in gold, a feature which is echoed on top of the gear knob plus a gold plaque with ‘911 Turbo, 1975-1989 Limited Edition Model’ engraving.

Further features include electrically adjustable Sports seats with heating, electric tilt and slide sunroof, climate control, Becker ‘Mexico’ radio/CD, rear wiper and a 180 mph speedometer (‘Z’ order number 02061).

At the time of production, Porsche had no plans to turbo charge the incoming 964, so it was believed that the LE would indeed be the final forced induction model to leave the Stuttgart factory.

This is a car for the serious collector! UK registered, we can arrange Nationwide delivery and Worldwide export, with easy shipping to either coast of the USA.
