Some big DDK news..... coming soon.
Next week I will be working alongside a developer to update the forum software and features.
Hopefully there will be little impact in terms of downtime but I'll keep you informed.
It's a bit of investment in terms of work but required for security and other technical reasons.
It will also introduce lots of new features to our valued members.
I've also made a big decision................
Some of you may not know but none of the content of DDK has ever been indexed within search engines.
It was a conscious decision nearly 20 years ago not to do so. This meant the community tended to grow through word of mouth but....
Imagine - 20 years of Porsche content indexed in Google.
The good, the bad and the ugly, suddenly appearing in searches by classic Porsche minded folk.
The time has come to do exactly this to insure the community reaches out to new audiences and can compete with the rapid and continued growth of Social Media.
I will still be vetting and approving new members so we don't get bombarded with spam, commercial freebies etc. which most of the Social Media 'Porsche' pages tend to suffer from to the point of tedium.
I'll be making sure the focus is on good content and a community which is courteous, respectful, knowledgeable and of course, bit 'maverick'
Our valued supporting partners will also benefit greatly as their content will have a wider reach and suddenly 20 years of Porsche Content, from a website with high Domain Authority will be linking to them and helping their search visibility and authority too - sorry, getting a too bit digital marketing focussed there. But, it's important to continue to attract support from these partners and make sure they get a good deal. Plus open some opportunities for new supporters of course.
So bear with me, I'll still act like the slightly crazed dictator I rejoice being and I'll make sure DDK's longevity is assured whilst being true to it's spirit.

Good news! Also, can you make it that when you click on a link, it opens in a new tab, rather than moving away from DDK page?

Re: Some big DDK news..... coming soon.
And the slow running and occasional downtime this afternoon is not connected with these updates - coincidence!

Re: Some big DDK news..... coming soon.
I await this with interest.
The forum on PCGB is password protected but I can't remember if it is only open to Members, so maybe this is why is had few, if any, negative people present.
So hope it will not move a step to PistonHeads which in my Subaru days really became a pain and I stopped going there altogether.
Above all, I too wish you a steady voyage through it all and I'm confident you know how to keep an even keel.
Graham.

Good news, well done Thomas. Does this mean photos will be easier to publish?
Let's hope we can avoid the trolls and haters one gets on Pelican and Pistonheads. It seems every conversation on them turns to personal sniping and moronic comments.

I guess you’re worried when people put ‘sexy time’ search words
In Google those (various) compromising photos of you will appear?
