Looking forward to seeing this completed Nigel, glad you haven't been tempted to backdate as well, that would be criminal.

I can't wait to see this done: I'm tempted to do an SC I've been offered in this style, only in Gulf Blue.

Great choice, Nigel, I love these bright colours contrasted against black: BTW, is that where it's been sprayed, or has it been moved out from a booth?

Well done Nigel for going with that - IMHO it looks so much better than the previous colour - so right 8).

Look forward to seeing it again this year.

another '74 Carerra in Lime Green

Post by james33 »

Hi Nigel,

I've also bought a '74 Carerra in Lime Green but the tub's rotten so it will have to be reshelled. I'm planning on building it into a Post Historic rally car and have located a donor shell and many of the parts I need.

I really love the colour and the impact bumpers. People keep telling me to retro but like you I don't think it's right.

When it's looking more than a collection of scap parts I'll put up a picture.

The finished article from Nigel is the strongest argument I've ever seen to question any backdating. Especially a 2.7 Carrera.

Nigel,
On your car is the bright work chrome or black?

Hot66 Have you got any more photos of this car I could look at?

Image Hi James
It's black, this must be the original trim from what I have seen, I was going to have black head lamp rims but changed my mind. I have also been told it would not have come with the front chin spoiler, but would have come with the ducktail only, I have always read that you must run both spoilers together ? Anyone know any different ?

Well, I hope mine comes a close second then! There's a thread on VZi asking which colour you would have your car if you could change it - in my case, it would be 'Watkins Green'! I want one of each now!! Looks amazing. 8)

74 Carerra

Post by james33 »

Nigel,

Is that the finished car? It looks great.

Ref Front and rear spoilers I think it depends on what you want.

My mate runs both on his Post Historic 911 and says he can feel the difference but he's driving at speed.

I took off the duck tail on my '73 and left on the chin spoiler and I can feel no difference but I'm not racing

If you read all the articles on it in the USA they say it's better for balance.

If you race it I think you should have them both.
