Basketweave Vinyl

Post by MonkeyChap »

Hi - does anyone happen to know where the Porsche-style basket weave is sold by the metre ? Not much luck on e-bay without incurring international postage fees. The google search links weren't much help either, but I wasn't sure if there's a proper name for the material. I found a few thin strips for dashboards, but I need bigger sheets for door cards.

Many Thanks

.

Gary (Suggate) bought some recently for his '72T restoration - if he doesn't chime in it would be worth sending him a pm ...

I ended up buying the wrong stuff already. If I was doing the whole car, I wouldn't mind it being wrong (it's backdate hotrod, so anything goes). But...once you've noticed the dash doesn't match the door cards, you keep noticing.

You could try this place in Germany, http://www.doepper-profile.de/. He has a very extensive stock of obsolete fabrics for all German Marques , also rubber trims. I purchased correct vinyl for 914 door trim from him

I’ve been in touch with Ian vin PM, but for reference the U.K. source I’ve used is Martrim in Sandbach.

For Porsche Basketweave you need to order brickweave from Martrim.

Their basket weave:

Which is a good match to the Porsche basketweave.
