Starter Motor Replacement for 1996 -993
Hi
My 993 starter motor is playing up.
Which replacement hi-gear starter motor would you recommend for the car?

I think it depends a bit upon your budget? There are starters around with no name parts that don’t cost too much, then there are some with good quality parts from Denso (I think the Wosp and Cambridge ones) and then there is Brise coaxial starters which aren’t cheap. Wosp seem to get good reviews but if your budget is bigger the Brise is jewel-like

Is the car stock? If so, just use a stock starter motor and save some ££££. IMHO, of course...

Hi All
Many thanks for the quick responses and will start to review my options. The car is stock but given the motors location and whats required to replace it I am looking for something a little better than stock.

Just curious as to what you are looking for as an improvement over the stock starter?

Probably a refurb of the existing unit is best value and would still give another 20+ years service.

Just a thought, we have wosp starters on our two single seaters with pinto engines and they don't seem very good. Perhaps just bad luck, but wouldn't be my choice.

Changing it is not too bad, its a bit fiddly but its easily achieved, buy a standard one, it will last well enough, I think the latter ones are slightly shorter, Euro car parts often have them on special offer.
