maverick
noun
1. an unorthodox or independent-minded person.
2. an unbranded calf or yearling.
Origin mid 19th century: from the name of Samuel A. Maverick (1803–70), a Texas rancher who did not brand his cattle.

At that price I would have expected a little more effort on the engine front... a 36hp vw unit at the very least.

the unusual mating of MX-5 twin-cam to Triumph Spitfire swing-axle chassis makes for some exhilarating handling characteristics I'd wager

I once drove a Herald with a 1.8 MX5 motor. It was great.
