911 Suspension Set Up

Post by steve wright »

After belting around the Goodwood circuit last week and trawling 220 threads unsuccessfully looking for suspension settings for fast road I figured I would ask a few ignorant questions.

As I understand it, suspension set up for a standard 1970 911 are: camber (frt) = 0 degrees +/- 20' and (rear) = -30' - 1 deg 10'. Caster = 6 deg 45' +/- 45'. Does anyone have standard toe-in/out settings?

What's recommended for fast road - if you have settings your happy with, how does it alter the characteristics of the car? What sort of compromises does this create (e.g. increased tyre wear)

Also, are later adjustable spring plates difficult to fit? And should I bother with trying to fit 30-year old bits or should I buy new Weltmeister spring plates?

Looking forward to DDK collective wisdom...

You can fit Weltmeister or original spring plates to an old car.
