I'm Ben and this is my 1973 914...

Image

I bought the car from my brother a few months ago. It needs a bit of tidying up but seems to be a generally straight example :)

I'm about to fit some BMW 320i calipers & new discs so would be interested to here from anyone else who has done this :) I'm following the Pelican tech article.

I also want to get the correct wing mirror to replace the 5quid plastic one currently fitted, so if anyone has one lying around, let me know :)

Hi Ben

Lovely looking car - did your brother buy this from someone in East Anglia?

Haven't tried the BMW calipers - I went the 911 front strut route so can't help. However, the correct wing mirrors are difficult to find. Your best bet might be the US - see :

Hello again, and welcome!

The morror in that link looks wrong to me..the correct 914 OEM mirror has an angeled stem which joins right on the end..

Kind regards

Yep that's him. He needed to sell the 14 to fund his 1966 bug which he'll be racing in the VWDRC so I had to snap it up!.

For any of you who knows Toby or is interested in hot Vdubs, here's a couple of pics from Santa Pod last weekend where he ran a pb of 14.34. Hopefully we'll be into the 13s pretty soon!
