The arches look just right to me. I’ve always thought (and you know how I like originality) that the original 914/6 arches are not the prettiest so I’m wondering the best way to fabricate a set of these to replace mine which I’ve ‘modified’ anyway at the last hill climb. Is it a case of fabricating four molds to create those curves in fibreglass? Has anyone used automotive sculpting clay to do such a thing from scratch?

Regards
Mike

Clay?

1. Get the original arch 3D scanned.

2. Draw the new arch in CAD

3. 3D print the moulds.

That sounds expensive for four arches. Is it?

Compared to dollops of clay of which most ends up on the floor? I doubt it - that sounds like 100's of hours work. Can't exactly mirror the L and R hand sides easily - how would you get them the same?

Wand scanning is getting cheaper everyday. We have a guy in tomorrow to scan some bits of our 914.

Probably the cheapest way for the DIY'er would be to find a nice arch of another car and graft it on

Those are actually entire wings, if you look at how the door is set back. I guess that is how they achieve the same width with a much shallower profile on the arch.

I think the car looks amazing, love the light treatment.
