Looks fantastic. A 993 is on my list one day. Truly usable modern classic.

I wimped out of replacing the carpet but I now quite like the grey carpet with the black interior.

Wheels next week will post up when they arrive.

I did RS Carpet Set / Door Cards / Shift Knob all in black last year. Even tho' Christian extracted the main body of carpet it was still a pig of a job, the glue is far stronger than the base material of the console for instance.

Bought stuff from Lakewell and Carnewal - with the carpet set, they could just number the pieces so you don't have to trial fit everything !

Keep at it ! cheers, Maurice

Small update I have afflicted my Brother-in-Law with the 993 bug and he's purchased a Polar Silver C2 its very smart but that's reflective of the price as the 993 seems to be having a run on values at the moment together with the 964 which seem especially thin on the ground - probably because everyone has been busy backdating them.

Anyhow back to my car I changed the wheels for the Otto Fuchs wheels as mentioned previously and the change in the car has been amazing and one hell of a lot more comfortable especially on British Roads. Rubber wise I went with CG's recommendation of Michelin PS4's as opposed to the standard Porsche N rated PS2 and they are extremely grippy with lots of feedback. The tramalining has completely gone as has the desire to move across the road and the need to keep a hearty grip on the wheel. The feeling through the wheel is sensitive and only a light grip is required as should be the case.

As well as swapping down to 17" wheels one of the possible and probable reasons for the skittish behaviour was this.

These hollow spokes were fitted to the N\S front and rear

Image

These solids were fitted to the O/S front and rear

The weight difference between the two was quite significant by about 5kg on the front and 8kg on the rear. I have no idea why you would run wheels in this way but i'm guessing the PO never checked. Anyway I now need to keep an eye out for a front and rear hollow TT's for track day use.

The good news is the Fuchs are even lighter than the Hollow Spoke TT's by 3kg on the front and 5kg on the rear and thats with brand new tyres whereas the 18's haven't got a great amount of tread left and are of a narrower profile.

Other news we did a week in Aberdovey blasting through the Welsh countryside (great roads) albeit a bit conservative with two sprats in the back although we knocked 20 minutes off the usual time but the cars now full of sand from these two culprits!

Image

Not a great view of the stance on the new wheels as it is pointing downhill

Cheers

Those Fuchs look terrific with Guards Red ..

After 19 years of 993 ownership (and many as Register Secretary) I've never seen or heard of anyone running that mix of wheels .. bl00dy unbelievable !

Cheers Maurice I think sticking with 17” helped the look and stance. Centre Gravity really rated the wheels and I’m glad I went for them. Not sure how they suit other colour 993’s but I like the contrast without blinging the car.

Good work! Is that one of the new Bremen head units? Really fancy one for my 964.

Yes I got Sylvester from Enigma to fit it and he did the door sound deadening which makes a hell of a difference.
