New modern

Post by dogbower »

Having not bonded with our MK3 Audi TT, even though it was fast, comfy and stuffed with clever tech, it was decided fun was the missing ingredient.

My neighbour has one. Fantastic little cars! I used to think my Lupo GTI was the cat's whiskers, but the Up! GTI is a real step up. Good choice!
(BTW, I just swapped my Audi TT, too. However, I went the 'sensible' route, with a Golf Bluemotion estate!)

Not 'quite' the same, but the wife has a Skoda Citigo Monte Carlo, lowered suspension no less.

However, it really is a great car with great attributes if rather slow, but around these congested parts will get me from a short A to B as fast as the Boxster and in far greater comfort.
Supple ride, fab brakes and really neat handling when going too fast (as if...).

The UP GTi I am sure is light years ahead, great modern choice. :)

I can see that James.
Small is the key word, it makes driving so much better, and so few cars can be called small anymore if modern.
My wife had a glint in her eye when I showed her the above pic of the UP GTi...

My everyday car is an Abarth 595 "Competitzione" ( 500 in different clothes )-with performance pack - loads of carbon bits, LSD, Sabelt carbon race seats, sports exhaust etc, just short of 200bhp, great fun to drive at legal speeds. - It's the fourth one I've had ( swapped an Audi RS4 - 415bhp for my first one) - I like cars that feel like you're going fast at 50mph , similar to my Elise & my Caterham and you keep your licence as well !

My long term project - 1971 Fiat 500 upgraded to full Abarth spec' should ( finally ) be ready this year - engine built in Italy with 37bhp ! ( up from 22bhp) that'll be a right laugh at 40mph !
