Specialist decoders enigma Bletchley experience

Post by 911FVD »

Hi,
Just as a follow on from my previous post looking for some history on my 1985 Carrera without much success, I have been trying to work out the underbonnet sticker codes................ok chassis number matches plate on underbonnet and all I have found out so far is the c16 relates to a UK spec car.

I can't find 331 code but 329 appears a radio.............L027 I assume must be guards red as a lot of the paintwork is original however I remember with my 1984 years ago assuming it was guards red struggled to match the paint only to find out it was Indischrot. Things were not so easy to investigate back in the mid to late 80's before the internet :bounce:
So anyone who can throw in any help would be appreciated. I am trying to work out whether the whole trim has been replaced or retrimmed at some point to original. The trim is shown in one Porsche article as 'hannibal' but in another that says hannibal is grey but it is brown leatherette and pinstripe cloth and as shown in later 86 spec referred to as cocoa. However looking through old options on trim I cannot find seats in the pinstripe cloth shoing full surface coverage on base and backs and only centre pads.

The underbonnet label shows interior as BK and usually I would have assumed this was a short code for BLACK, The fact the whole top dash roll, rear shelf and rest of trim all round is BROWN including headlining, makes me suspicious it has not been a previous change over as doubtful anyone would bother with the top dash roll as that is a big job to change surely.

Any advice or help appreciated.

Steve

L027 is Guards Red

Is the 331 a type code rather than an option ?. Option 331 is AM/FM Cassette w/2 door speakers.

Interior fabric and carpet codes should be a number and 2 letters and I would expect Sw (Schwartz) for black, not BK. I think that BK is for Cloth “Porsche”, Partial

The Germans wouldn’t be so kind as to translate their stickers into the language of the market the car is built for. The letters are just a code.

I haven’t got a book to check this, but I’m fairly confident all the ones that start with a B are for part cloth so I’d be confident what you have is original.
