Shipping from LA: current prices

Post by Bertroex »

Hi everyone,

Popping back up on the good old DDK forum again, rather than using the private messages and social media channels. There might be an opportunity to import something pre-72 from California for my Liege-Brescia-Liege 2021 entry.

Thanks to Mark (912UK) and a few other USA Porsche brothers, a deal will hopefully materialise. I contacted Kingston shipping but couldn’t help but notice that prices have gone up since the 2017-2019 time.... obviously the dollar to pound or Dollar to Euro rate isn’t ideal either but, beggars can’t be choosers.

Has anyone got a current container going in the next few weeks from LA to U.K.? Or anyone has any alternatives to Kingston? ( I do have to say: they have been extremely helpful). I also took note of Jos’s adventures with Marine insurance.

Keep the faith and kind regards,

Bert

I have a 914 en route from East Coast via Kingstown cost GBP 1185 + duty/vat etc - shipping from West Coast was only about GBP 300 more.

As they do literally all the work including NOVA I am amazed at how cheap it is!
Bought in my 911 five years back - I’m sure it wasn’t a lot cheaper.....

As they use West Coast shipping you could try them but you’ll probably still need Kingstown to do paperwork etc.

Shipped a car over from LA to Southampton in November 2018 and used Direct Express Inc.
https://www.shipdei.com/
$1200.00 and again Kingstown sorted everything when back in the uk.
Went smooth and car turned up within 4 weeks as I left it.
Even got it delivered up to Yorkshire for £50.00 as Kingstown had a transpoter driver who lived in Darlington and was heading home for the weekend.

I'm sorry.
You'll need to tell us much more about the car in order for us to recommend a shipper ;)

I've also used these too.
https://www.cfrrinkens.com/
They also partner up with Kingstown shipping when the container lands here.
