On a vacation to San Francisco some years ago, i mapped out the Bullitt drive and got a taxi driver to take me round - I had a Mustang rental but figured i would want to take photos as i went.

If you have done it yourself, you will know the chase isnt filmed on linked streets. It's all over the city and then chopped together to look like a continuous drive.

Afterwards, we had lunch at John's Grill where Sam Spade had lunch in the novel 'The Maltese Falcon'

A bunch of other crap (according to my wife)

Anyone remember this slice of cheese from the 80’s? No Mans land with Charlie Sheen. Another terrible move but lots of Porsche content.

The continuity is shocking, looks like a pre 74 car drives into the garage but it’s an sc once it’s inside the garage

It’s a 930 innit?

I remember being very pleased with myself explaining to my wife that a turbo wouldn’t have had a dash top speaker.

She was suitably impressed.

Timo that No Mans Land I had forgotten but was one of my favs as as youngster.
It also reminded me of King of the Mountain, wich i used to watch over and over.

Karl, I have to admit it was one of my favourites as a kid too

Never seen king of the mountain before though, that 356 is interesting, sounds like it’s running a seriously lumpy cam!

What is the movies there the getaway man proves this skill by taking pieces of a car in a multi storey car park? I think from the 70s

I think it might be The Driver?

Gonna watch The Driver tonight at 10pm on Talking Pictures TV (freeview channel) - not seen it before but it gets decent reviews.

Despite sounding a bit second rate it's worth keeping an eye on Talking Pictures TV schedule - watched Straw Dogs (that was uncomfortable viewing) and Up The Junction (directed by Peter Collinson before he did The Italian Job) on there recently

So cop 3 in The Driver was played by the same guy as the witness who gets whacked while under Bullitt's protection. Must've told his agent he was only doing films with serious car-chase action.

And policing was simpler in 70s Cali; just arrest the guy with bald on top, long back & sides

If you're missing the annual coverage from the Isle of Man, On Any Sunday is a dose of 2 wheeled mayhem Stateside vintage 1971. Kick Start the movie

Top of my list is Frederick Forsyth's 1973 thriller ' The Day of the Jackal. '
Set in the early 60's, most of the featured cars are French.
A plethora of DS's, Renault's, Simca's, Peugeot's plus the star car
an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider.
Keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish, and instructs how
to smuggle a hand crafted rifle with telescopic sight through Border Control
when driving an open top sports car. Great car chases and a brilliant film.

'Day of the Jackal' is a great film.

You forgot to mention that it also shows how to do a colour change 'on the cheap' ...

"To Live And Die in L.A."

Must see neo-Noire directed to by Bill Friedkin, epic car-chase and a young Willem Defoe as the villain.

Good stuff.

Resurrecting this thread now I'm in tier 3. Reviews are pretty ropey but gonna give Girl on a Motorcycle a go tonight (10pm Talking Pictures TV). The 911's just a background vehicle by the way
